Using skype, make an appointment to have an expert talk to the class. Students will be prepared for this session by using skype before our appointment. In the past too often students are so distracted by the new technology that they don't focus or jump up to ask questions just to see themselves on the screen. They will come to the practice skype session with questions for the oral history expert and will get to try out skype if they have their questions ready.
I will have to do some research and emailing to locate an expert who is able to speak to middle school students. I have emailed Anita Hecht to see if she or other oral historians would be interested in skyping.
